The Charge Of The Heavy Brigade At Balaklava by Dr David R Jones. An illustrated guide, using David Jones' excellent recent photographs of the ground as it is today. Maps depicting the charge usually show the clash somewhere south of the crest of the Causeway Heights that divide the Plain of Balaklava into North and South Valleys, and anywhere between Nos 4 & 6 of the Causeway Heights redoubts. Here in SP41 Dr. Jones gives brief details of the events of the day until just after the Heavy Brigade action. He then pinpoints the probable location for the charge for the benefit of today's battlefield visitor through the use of excellent modern colour photos. This is the 'prequel' to Dr. Jones's SP42 (see below). This SP is more expensive than normal because it is in full COLOUR to best appreciate the photographs. The work is primarily intended as a guide for those actually walking the ground, but will surely become an essential addition to the shelves of all Balaklava buffs. [A4, 54pp, saddle-stitch, colour photographs].
