OBITUARIES &c. from THE INVERNESS COURIER

Researched and extracted by John Pearson
These items were all extracted from the Inverness Courier by John Pearson and posted originally at the Crimean War Yahoo Group. They are not all obituaries: there are some promotions; some weddings; some memorial dinners and other similar events recorded. They are mostly Scottish and with local Inverness interest - however not entirely: the newspaper did pick up on interesting stories from elsewhere. Obituaries and promotions etc. for individuals are listed in the alphabetical navigation below. Other pieces ( e.g. anniversary dinners and other non-specific items) are under 'Ω'. Caveat: not all information is necessarily correct - journalists and sub-editors have been known to make mistakes and it was sometimes the case that Crimean veterans embroidered their careers a little bit when recounting their deeds to family and friends! In some cases John Pearson found that the newspaper corrected itself, or clarified matters, in a later issue. Most of these corrections have been included below the original entry.
